Go Behind The Scenes Of Green Day’s ‘Know Your Enemy’ Video!

Welcome back to Green Day’s 21st Century Breakdown! Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool invite you to the set of “Know Your Enemy,” the first single from their hotly anticipated new album — their first in five years. The video, which premieres this Friday on MTV.com, was shot in downtown L.A., with eight different cameras, epic visuals, and one loooooong night.

The behind-the-scenes sneak peek below delivers on director Mathew Cullen’s — best known for directing Weezer’s meme-packed “Pork And Beans” video — promise that the star of this video isn’t the band so much as it is the music.

Green Day’s machine-gun drums and cocky guitar crunch have no trouble filling the bill, thrusting forth from giant, fiery platforms. With the music at center stage, all that was left for Mike, Tre, and Billie Joe was to lean back and do what they do best. For Tre, that may or may not have meant being set on fire. As Mike says in the clip, “It ain’t work. It’s rock’n'roll.”
